The Western Mindanao State University, on Thursday, awarded its dedicated faculty, personnel and retirees during the Recognition Day for Loyalty Awardees held on the College of Teacher Education in line with the celebration of the 113th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service Commission.

As guest speaker of the ceremony, CSC Regional Director Atty. Macybel Alfaro-Sahi said that the WMSU personnel and faculty through the headship of President Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho proved heroism through their contribution to the month-long crisis in Zamboanga City, thereby living out the theme of CSC’s anniversary: “Tatak lingkod bayani, isabuhay, ipagmalaki at ipagbunyi.”
Atty. Sahi added that WMSU deserves recognition for beefing up the nursing and security services of the University instead of staying in the comfort and safety of their homes during the war. Furthermore, she praised Dr. Ho’s initiatives in alleviating the victims’ sufferings and even dubbed the faculty and staff of WMSU as ‘a bunch of serious public servants.’

On the other hand, Dr. Ho was one of the loyalty awardees, recognized for her 35 years of
commitment to the University. With her were 148 other faculty and administrative personnel of the University that were conferred with certificates, cash grants and tokens according to the number of years of service: certificates for the individuals who have been serving for 10 years; certificates and cash grants to the 15, 20 and 25 years in service; certificates, cash and wrist watches to the faculty and staff who served for 30 years; certificates, cash and rings for the 35 years in service; and certificates, cash and commemorative pendants to the employees who rendered 40 and 45 years of service to the University.
Meanwhile, retiree privilege cards were given to the 27 mandatory and optional retirees for C.Y. 2013.
The awarding of certificates, cash and mementos was facilitated by Prof. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena (OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Ederlinda M. Fernandez (Vice President for Planning, Administration and Finance) and Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho (WMSU President) who were assisted by Mrs. Ma. Teresita J. Rodriguez (Human Resource Officer III). In a concluding statement, Dr. Ho said “…it is not about our ranks. What is important is we touched lives and we made a difference.” (AJ Dalugdug – PAO/WMSU)
