“When service is needed to be rendered, we will open our gates to the community.” WMSU President Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho on Monday, October 7, expressed her appreciation to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for recognizing WMSU as a partner in reaching out to the community in times of crisis.

The Juanito Bruno Gymnasium of the Western Mindanao State University witnessed the symbolic exchange of banners of ZCMC and WMSU that officially sealed the partnership between the University and the hospital. The same Gymnasium served as a satellite emergency hospital for the patients of the ZCMC when the war in Zamboanga broke out early September.

This is not the end, this is just the beginning” Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, WMSU President said during the sealing of partnership with the ZCMC.

WMSU officials and ZCMC staff lined up for the ceremonial shaking of hands.
Dr. Romeo Ong, ZCMC Chief of Hospital stated that they will never forget their alliance with WMSU, adding that this will go down to the history of ZCMC.
According to Prof. Claro R. Potenciano, WMSU faculty, this was not the first time WMSU extended its support to the Hospital because in the 1940’s the University became a Field Hospital during World War II.
Moreover, Zamboanga City Mayor Hon. Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar graced the ceremony with a short message saying that the calamities the City has been facing are all part of a test of faith. She referred to the floods in different barangays in the city as the new crisis.
Prior to the ceremonial exchange of banners, the renowned Jambangan Cultural Dance Troupe performed before the staff of WMSU, ZCMC and guest from the City Health Office and the Department of Health.
Also present in the event were Dr. Rodel Agbulos, City Health Officer and Dr. Nimfa Torrizo, Department of Health Regional Director. (AJ Dalugdug – PAO/WMSU)
