Dr. Ma. Nieves R. Confesor, the faculty-in-charge of the DAP Presidential Leadership Program, shared the rationale of the program and introduced the SUC presidents to the WMSU community during their HEI visit.
Dave Valiente, a representative of the University Student Council, also shared the best practices, experiences and milestone in the USC.

The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) held the Presidential Leadership-Professional Advancement Program with series of courses under the CHED Philippine Higher Education Career System (Phil-HECS), with Western Mindanao State University as host institution through the leadership of Dr. Milabel Enriquez Ho, President, last November 23-25, 2016.
The course on “Building Collaborative and Inclusive Working Relationship” with the theme “Challenges and Complexities of HEI Management” was participated by over 40 presidents and chancellors from various State University and Colleges (SUCs) in the country held at the Garden Orchid Hotel, WMSU Main Campus and WMSU San Ramon Campus.
The Presidential Leadership or PL is a continuing education program for incumbent SUC presidents to empower them to be effective leaders of their institutions. The program exposed SUC presidents with trends, new government policies, and best practices in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). By bringing together SUC presidents and connecting them with key resource individuals, PL provides a venue for these leaders from diverse backgrounds to share ideas, experiences and insights with their peers in the community.
Dr. Ma. Nieves R. Confesor, a core faculty member of the Asian Institute of Management, served as the faculty-in-charge and resource person for the session. She lectured on the importance of understanding the dynamics and complexities of managing HEIs particularly building collaborative and inclusive working relationships with stakeholders within and outside its organization. The course also served as a venue for new and seasoned SUC presidents to craft policies relative promotion and protection of diverse interests of HEI Stakeholders.
The three-day course included study visits to WMSU Main Campus and WMSU San Ramon Campus. WMSU internal and external stakeholders took part in sharing its best practices, experiences and milestone in practicing internationalization. The participants visited the University Hostel where they had the chance to ask questions to the stakeholders. They also toured in the College of Engineering and Technology Innovation Hub and the College of Teacher Education.
Dr. Teresita Narvaez, WMSU Vice President for Resource Generation and concurrent director of Western Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources, Research and Development Consortium (WESMAARRDEC), shared one of WMSU’s best practices, the ZamPen Native Chicken Fiesta program. The participants also toured in the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm where the ZamPen Native Chicken are housed and attended to by inmates from the Bureau of Corrections.
In a visit to the Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (ZamboEcozone), the Marketing Team of ZamboEcozone also shared information regarding its program, their business partners, ventures and core projects.
