Spell-binding.
That was how beauties, talents and wits were showcased anew in the annual Search for Mr. and Ms. WMSU 2013. Held at the Juanito Bruno Gymnasium, twenty-two (22) candidates from eleven (11) different Colleges of the Western Mindanao State University vied for the coveted Mr. and Ms. WMSU titles.
Antonio P. Salcedo of the College of Criminal Justice Education emerged as the Mr. WMSU with special awards as the Mr. Photogenic, Mr. SMART Texters’ Choice, Mr. Phoenix, Best in Shorts, Mr. Hezion and the new MAZ Discovery. Marissa Jade A. Koh, a junior Political Science student, on the other hand, gave pride to the College of Social Sciences as she was crowned as the Ms. WMSU, along with awards such as the Ms. Sun Gate Smile, Ms. Hezion, and Best in Philippine Terno.
First-runners up were WMSU Pagadian’s Lover Boy H. Dag-uman, a first year Bachelor in Secondary Education student who was also Mr. Talent, Mr. Sun Gate Smile and the most “liked” candidate on Facebook; and Glady C. Sta. Teresa, a second year Food Processing student from the College of Home Economics who was also chosen as the Ms. Photogenic among the other female candidates.
Also from Pagadian hailed another beauty who made it to the top as she was acclaimed as 2nd runner-up. Ivy E. Bastiong, a Computer Science sophomore was the most “liked” female candidate on Facebook and was awarded with a modeling contract from the Models Association of Zamboanga. 2nd runner-up also was John Kyle L. Macrohon, a Nutrition and Dietetics freshman from the College of Home Economics who was the Best in Retro Attire in the male category.
Alhasim Mabbol and Elayne Joy Santos were hailed as the third runners-up. Mabbol is a junior Mass Communications student from the College of Communications and Humanities. Out of the eleven male competitors, he was the Best in School Uniform. Elayne Joy Santos, however, was the third runner-up in the female division. Santos is a second year majoring in Elementary Education from the College of Teacher Education, receiving special awards like the Best in Retro Attire and Ms. SMART Texters’ Choice.
Fourth runners-up were John Paul R. Raval, sophomore Psychology major from the College of Social Sciences and Fatima Shaima S. Danial, a fourth year student from the College of Nursing. Danial was adjudged as the Ms. Talent and Ms. Congeniality.
The University President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho graced the event and handed over each trophy to the 2013 Mr. and Ms. WMSU. Also present were officials, directors and deans of the University.
The retro-themed pageant was polished through the synergetic efforts of the Office of Culture and the different Colleges in the University who took part in this year’s Search for Mr. and Ms. WMSU. (AJ Dalugdug – PAO/WMSU)
