WMSU BSHEED students sends off a unique welcome to the event’s guests in their festive costumes.
From paella to ensalada, to barbeque to crema de fruta. The Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education (BSHEED) students got the approval of the guests during the culinary presentation dubbed, “Filipino-South American Fused Cuisine.” The mouth-watering event was held at the Western Mindanao State University-College of Home Economics Function Room last February 19.
The presentation consisted of rich variety of courses such as Ensalada Para Paella for the appetizer, Curry Marinated Chicken Barbeque, Beef Stroganoff, Paella Peruvian Style, Coco Crab Rice, Crema de Fruta for dessert and Chocolate Coffee Rum. The food choices provided an experience of a latin banquet crossed over with the familiar taste of Pinoy cuisine. The fine dining experience gave a taste of the spices that Filipinos are most home with but with the kick of the Latin culture.
The culinary presentation is part of the BSHEED curriculum aside from the on-board training, practice teaching and practicum. The event also served as venue for dialogue with the students’ parents, policies and advisories were discussed in-depth to the parents by BSHEED Department Head, Prof. Ma. Dolores J. Macrohon. She tackled elaborately the importance of the parents’ support to the students in complying with the prerequisites of the course. (EKEENA O. LIM, WMSU-PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE)
