In celebration of the International Women’s Month, the Gender Research and Resource Center (GRRC) of Western Mindanao State University recognized this year’s outstanding women for their exemplary performance in their respective fields and for their invaluable efforts in advocating the role of gender through an awarding ceremony called “Araw ng Parangal sa Huwaran at Dakilang Juanas ng WMSU” held on Monday morning, March 16 at the College of Teacher Education’s Social Hall.
WMSU President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho and Vice President for Planning, Administration and Finance, Dr. Ederlinda M. Fernandez both received the highest recognition called “Huwaran at Dakilang Juana” for their excellence and contribution to the field of education, research, community service and other humanitarian cause.
Special commendations as “Dakilang Juanas” were awarded to: Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez (WESMARRDEC Director), Dr. Chona Q. Sarmiento (RDEC Director), Dr. Gloria G. Florendo (Director for Special Programs and Projects), Prof. Eulyn H. Tangalin (BIDANI Director), Dr. Marcelina G. Carpizo (PHSI Director), Mrs. Ma Lourdes B. Alba (Director for Finance), Ms. Nida J. Cainglet (Budget Officer), Dr. Bagian Aleyssa A. Abdulkarim (CSWCD Dean), Prof. Lucia M. Santos (CHE Dean), Dr. Marilou Elago (Graduate School Coordinating Dean) , Ms. Gina Somblingo (University Cashier), Ms. Gwen Purganan, Prof. Clarissa P. Miranda, Mrs. Susana Galicia, Ms. Remedios L. Jalao, Ms. Virginia C. Vesagas and Security Officer Rosita Dela Cruz.
Before the ceremony concluded, Dr. Ho also honored the efforts and involvement of the GRRC Director, Prof. Rosalyn Romo-Echem and GRRC staff, Mrs. Darlane Sabellano in advocacies that aim towards gender equality and women empowerment making sure that everybody has full access to justice, resources and opportunities.
